Textiles Semillas
Artwork Description
An iron structure on which the textiles made by Silät, Tinku Kamayu, Tejedoras de Quilmes, Flor de Altea, Achalay Tejidos, and Teleras de Huilla Catina, the groups of weavers that make up Textiles Semillas, are stretched and held. These textiles are made from llama fiber, sheep wool, chaguar fiber, cotton, and industrial yarns. The techniques used are looms, lacing, and embroidery. The colors were achieved through artisanal dyeing processes using leaves, roots, bark, vegetable peels, and aniline dyes.
